Daisy Jones And The Six Costume

Hey fellow Daisy Jones & The Six enthusiasts!

I recently channeled the iconic Daisy Jones at my cousin’s baby shower, alongside my sister who embodied the enigmatic Billy Dunne. Let’s discuss!! If you're a fan of musicals…you'll understand the excitement of recreating your favorite character’s look for a musical themed baby shower.

The idea of dressing up as Daisy Jones actually came from my husband, as I was struggling trying to choose a character…there’s just too many good options! Do I choose Cher from Burlesque…Ariel from The Little Mermaid…Elle Woods from Legally Blonde, The Musical?? So when he suggested Daisy, it was an Aha moment…I mean who wouldn't want to emulate Daisy Jones effortless rock 'n' roll style?

But as I delved into the task of finding the perfect ensemble, I quickly realized that capturing her essence required more than just throwing on any old outfit. There was a fine line between looking like the 70’s and looking like I’m headed to Coachella!

My search began with a deep dive into the depths of the internet. I scoured Free People, flipped through Pinterest, and searched for the key pieces that would bring Daisy's spirit to life. However, as I stared at the price tags of some of these items, reality struck. Did I really want to splurge on a costume for a baby shower?

That's when I decided I didn't need to break the bank to embody Daisy's iconic look. Instead, I decided to get creative and make use of what I already had in my closet, as well as a few strategic purchases.

After raiding both my wardrobe and my sister Kayla's, I began piecing together the elements of my Daisy Jones ensemble. A fringe kimono, a red wig, and a chain belt became the backbone of my outfit, all sourced affordably from Amazon. These items set the stage for everything else!

To capture Daisy's bohemian flair, I layered a see-through lace top over a lace bralette. Paired with high-waisted wide-leg jeans, this combination exuded just the right amount of vintage charm. Of course, no Daisy Jones-inspired look would be complete without some statement accessories. I adorned myself with large gold hoops and a squash blossom necklace, adding an extra touch of authenticity to the ensemble. Finishing off the look with white leather boots!

As I stood in front of the mirror, fully decked out in my Daisy Jones attire, I couldn't help but feel like I just created a new alter-ego for myself. The transformation was complete, and I was ready to rock and roll. Did I mention we were going to be performing karaoke for everyone?! Yikes.

We decked my sister out in all denim inspired by that classic Billy outfit. But to make it more convincing - we had to add a wig and sideburns, just embracing the hilarity of it all. We topped off her look with raybans, black cowboy boots, and of course, an electric guitar.

Our mission was accomplished. It was hilarious playing pretend, smoking our fake cigarettes, and singing terribly. Going all out in costume is something my family/cousins love doing…it’s so fun and why not!? With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can channel the spirit of your favorite characters and bring them to life in your own unique way.

So, next time your headed to a costume party…don't be afraid to unleash your alter-ego and embrace the magic of dressing up. After all, as Daisy herself once said, "I had absolutely no interest in being somebody else’s muse. I am not a muse. I am the somebody.”

Until next time, I’m gonna go rewatch the show now.
